翻譯研究的“文化轉向”超越了將原文和譯文進行簡單對比的層面,文化學派更多地思考不同時期的價值觀、意識形態(tài)、體制等因素對翻譯研究的影響。勒菲弗爾認為,翻譯是一種改寫,改寫即操縱,是為特定意識形態(tài)服務的手段。但也應意識到,翻譯在受意識形態(tài)操縱的同時,也是一種新文化、新思想的催化劑,從而反作用于意識形態(tài)。一方面,目的語意識形態(tài)無形地影響和操縱著翻譯實踐,譯者為了滿足目的語讀者的文化意識和審美取向,往往會對翻譯文本做出一定程度的改寫;另一方面,譯者看似受到目的語文化的種種制約,實際上也會在個人意識形態(tài)的影響下,通過翻譯實踐對意識形態(tài)產(chǎn)生反作用。本文以潘光旦譯《性心理學》為個案,試圖揭示意識形態(tài)是如何操縱同性戀話語的翻譯實踐的,以及潘光旦如何在翻譯實踐中引入本土知識與外來知識進行比較,從而補充乃至挑戰(zhàn)五四運動后盛行的西方同性戀性話語,呈現(xiàn)出未曾被察覺的中國本土同性戀面貌。
