[Abstract]:Time consciousness is an important symbol of modern novel. Therefore, time problem has become a new research direction and discussion hot spot in academic circles. William Faulkner, a famous American writer, is a writer with a strong consciousness of time, which is clearly reflected in his novels. Su Tong, a Chinese writer who once claimed to be deeply influenced by Faulkner on many public occasions, studied Faulkner's regional description of Yorknapata at the same time. It also imperceptibly accepted the idea of time for all kinds of people who lived on this land. Using the method of parallel study of comparative literature, this paper explores the time consciousness and its origin in Faulkner's and Su Tong's works, and examines the interaction and difference between Chinese and western literature in the process of the similarities and differences in the creation of comparative texts. This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter explains the concept of time embodied in the two writers' works from the point of view of the creation theme, the second chapter analyzes the time consciousness of the two writers' novels from the point of view of the characters in the works. The third chapter explores the time of the two writers' texts from the perspective of narration, and the fourth chapter reveals the convergence and difference of their respective views of time from the perspective of nurturing the different southern world of the two writers. As a result, the two writers rejected the linear development of time, beheaded time, time exists only in the past-present two dimensions; The difference is that Faulkner's view of time is "now pointing to the past", while Su Tong's view of time is "past pointing to the present". Therefore, Faulkner's works are close to life on the surface, but they are far from life in temperament and have some kind of eternal taste of philosophy. Su Tong's works are far away from life on the surface, but close to life in temperament, which shows the embarrassment of human existence.
