鑒于中西文化的巨大差異,筆者認為適合中國國情的譯論體系建設離不開對中國傳統(tǒng)譯論的梳理和再發(fā)現(xiàn)以及對中國譯者翻譯實踐的研究,所以,筆者在此選取文化交流大使林語堂作為研究論題,希望通過對其翻譯理論及實踐的研究,為此做出自己的貢獻。筆者認為,林語堂的翻譯理論實際上已形成了一個相對完整的辯證體系。他較早地認識到了譯者以及譯文讀者在翻譯過程中的重要作用,因此他以不同于前人及同代人態(tài)度,將譯者和譯文讀者納入了其翻譯理論論述范圍之內(nèi)。換言之,林語堂的翻譯理論涉及了翻譯過程的幾個重要因素,包括原文、譯者、譯文讀者和譯文。而在對這些因素進行論述時,林語堂的態(tài)度可謂辯證而中肯。一方面,作為翻譯出發(fā)點的原文必須得到尊重,所以譯文應忠實于原文。另一方面,由于百分百忠實不具有操作性而譯文又是為譯文讀者服務的,所以譯文在忠實的同時還應符合譯文讀者的閱讀習慣。至于譯者,一方面,受其實際能力和個人觀念的影響,他在原文解讀和譯文創(chuàng)作過程中必然具有一定的主觀性,所以他是譯文產(chǎn)生過程中的一個主觀決定因素;另一方面,由于原文在翻譯活動中具有重要地位,且原文譯文兩個語言文化系統(tǒng)之間的差異有時甚至不可跨越,所以譯者對譯文的影響力...
