[Abstract]:As we all know, the change of language is closely related to the development of society. Whether it is the development of politics, economy, culture, science and technology, or the change of people's life, it will be reflected in language. These new words, which reflect social development, not only make up for the deficiency of the existing words, but also express the new ideas better, so they have been accepted and widely used by the public and become the most popular words nowadays, that is, buzzwords. Some of these buzzwords are new words adapted to social development, and some are old words with new meanings. Because of the development of network technology and mobile media, the network language spreads rapidly and has a large number of users, so it becomes an important source of buzzwords. In recent years, the exchanges between China and the international community have become more and more frequent, and China's influence in the world has been increasing. These catchwords are an important means and an effective way for foreigners to understand China's social life in a timely manner. Therefore, The translation of neologisms and buzzwords into English has become an important task and cultural mission for many translators. The translation of Chinese buzzwords into English must first follow the basic principles of translation. Through literal and free translation, domestication and alienation, transliteration, parody and other commonly used translation methods, the original text can be translated into expression that can be understood by the target language audience. Skopos theory provides a new perspective and translation direction for English translation of popular Chinese words. From the perspective of Skopos theory, the supreme rule in translation should be the Skopos rule, that is, the translation aims are different and the strategies adopted in translation are different. The method is also different. Under the guidance of Skopos theory, the translation of Chinese buzzwords has the following two purposes: first, the acceptability of the target language audience, the target text should conform to the readers' habits and make the target readers better understand the meaning conveyed by the source language, there will not be too much strangeness; The second is to retain the Chinese language characteristics and cultural context as much as possible, without losing the original connotation and style of Chinese. If the main purpose of translation is the acceptability of the reader, the translator may adopt the translation methods such as free translation, domestication and imitation; if the purpose of cultural transmission is to carry out translation activities, literal translation, free translation and transliteration are more suitable. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, this paper discusses the best translation strategies of Chinese buzzwords from the above two angles. The author collects a large number of Chinese buzzwords and their translations, and makes a case study of some of them in an attempt to give the most appropriate English translation version.
