笛福小說(shuō)中的帝國(guó)意識(shí)研究

作為英國(guó)著名的作家與政治冊(cè)作家,丹尼爾·笛福與他的作品在過(guò)去的幾個(gè)世紀(jì)里一直備受世界矚目。在笛福近60歲之時(shí),他開(kāi)始了其首部小說(shuō)《魯濱遜漂流記》的創(chuàng)作。此后,他還創(chuàng)作了《辛格頓船長(zhǎng)》與《杰克上�！返榷嗖啃≌f(shuō)。上述三部作品中的主人公魯濱遜﹑辛格頓與杰克皆以第一人稱敘事視角講述了自己的海外冒險(xiǎn)經(jīng)歷,他們以不同方式參與了大英帝國(guó)領(lǐng)土的擴(kuò)張和帝國(guó)意識(shí)的構(gòu)建。本文以后殖民主義理論為基礎(chǔ),尤其運(yùn)用了賽義德對(duì)帝國(guó)意識(shí)的分析,對(duì)笛福上述三本小說(shuō)中的帝國(guó)意識(shí)進(jìn)行了全面深入的探究。英國(guó)18世紀(jì)初興起的小說(shuō)成為這一歷史時(shí)期對(duì)帝國(guó)的主要想象形式,小說(shuō)與帝國(guó)的形成和擴(kuò)張無(wú)形中形成了一種共謀的關(guān)系。18世紀(jì)的英國(guó)在海外開(kāi)疆?dāng)U土,攫取財(cái)富,宣揚(yáng)白人文化至上的觀念,這也在笛福的三本小說(shuō)中得以體現(xiàn)。在政治方面,帝國(guó)意識(shí)的強(qiáng)化推動(dòng)了小說(shuō)中英國(guó)的領(lǐng)土擴(kuò)張進(jìn)程。在經(jīng)濟(jì)方面,帝國(guó)意識(shí)的發(fā)展加快了小說(shuō)中英國(guó)的財(cái)富積累。在文化方面,魯濱遜,辛格頓與杰克都被認(rèn)為是尊貴的“自我”形象,而外來(lái)種族則被認(rèn)為是“他者”形象。通過(guò)對(duì)“自我”形象的優(yōu)越性與“他者”形象劣根性的比較與分析,可以得出帝國(guó)意識(shí)與其宣稱的文化優(yōu)越性密不可分�；谝陨戏治�...
