從空間敘事視角分析《核時(shí)代》中的核焦慮

核武器的發(fā)明為人類科技史增添了濃墨重彩的一筆,戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的形態(tài)也隨之改變。二戰(zhàn)末期美軍在日本的廣島和長崎投放原子彈是人類第一次在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)中使用核武器,它的滿目瘡痍不僅給當(dāng)時(shí)的民眾帶去無法估量的精神創(chuàng)傷,也把后世的人們置于核威懾之中。進(jìn)入冷戰(zhàn)以后,美國和前蘇聯(lián)展開以核武器為主的軍備競(jìng)賽,導(dǎo)致地球上囤積了大量的核武器;這兩大集團(tuán)之間頻繁爆發(fā)危機(jī),雙方形成劍拔弩張的局勢(shì),民眾長期生活在核陰霾之下。心理學(xué)家對(duì)核威懾下的民眾心理關(guān)注很多、研究成果頗豐,而小說家給予的關(guān)注較少,美國作家蒂姆·奧布萊恩的《核時(shí)代》(1985)是這方面當(dāng)之無愧的杰作。 作者奧布萊恩通過并置、反復(fù)切換、拼貼等后現(xiàn)代主義創(chuàng)作手法打破小說線性敘事的傳統(tǒng),在總體上營造出了時(shí)而曠達(dá)遼闊時(shí)而窒息逼人的變幻有致的空間效果。因循原作的創(chuàng)作手法,本文應(yīng)用約瑟夫·弗蘭克創(chuàng)立的空間敘事理論從奧布萊恩小說建構(gòu)的文本空間、故事空間和讀者心理空間三個(gè)方面對(duì)小說《核時(shí)代》進(jìn)行剖析,以外化生活在核威懾下小說主人公的核焦慮。文本空間通過小說結(jié)構(gòu)和情節(jié)安排得以闡釋,前者類似“三明治”結(jié)構(gòu),后者處于并置狀態(tài),敘述在現(xiàn)實(shí)與回憶之間來回跳躍,它反映出小說主人公時(shí)而健全時(shí)...
